THE IRIS LAB  is a creative incubator, research and gathering center for a global community of theater makers. We serve artists who strive to utilize their world-making skills to create a more just and compassionate world. 

Our mission is to prioritize global majority & equity minded theater makers, to center care, risk- taking, and digital and indigenous theater making technologies. We offer short and long term residencies, retreats, research group / think tank space, mentorship, all without pressure to produce.

As a research space, THE IRIS LAB  is a space of inquiry, intervention, and creative empowerment that advances UC Santa Cruz’s ambition to become a model location of anti-racist, decolonial forward creative practices that serve global majority and equity minded theater makers both in the U.S and internationally.
